The Tasks

In groups of three or four people, prepare:

1. a multimedia presentation (pictures, music and words)
   
   and individually
   
   
2. a written report, on a subculture of your choice. 

You will have two lessons (four hours) and two homeworks in which to complete this work.

Your presentation should last for about 10 minutes.

TOPICS TO BE COVERED in both presentation and report:

There are some sample presentations in the left-hand margin (but bear in mind they were just on subcultures and didn't include music and music videos)

1. History of your Subculture.
   
   
2. Dress and Haircuts
   
   
3. Behavioural patterns, patterns of language
   
   
4. Ways of carrying oneself – body language etc, Dance styles
   
   
5. Music - choose a music video and lyrics to analyse - guide below
   
   
6. Ideology – attitudes, beliefs, values of your chosen subculture. 
   How do women, different ethnic groups and classes fit into it? Theoretical perspectives, in other words.
   

Conclude your presentation/report by discussing how your subculture FITS into dominant culture and how it OPPOSES dominant culture.
