Module 4 Developing Communication Practice

This coursework will continue to develop the independent research skills you learnt during the oral presentation portfolio in AS Level Communication Studies.

This time you are not required to present your work as an oral, purely in written form. However you will draw on the research, evaluation and fieldwork skills you have developed as well as having the chance to produce your own pieces of communication.

The point of this project is to produce a piece of communication (e.g website, leaflet, advertising material, educational game etc) which is genuinely needed by a particular audience and to show the Examiner your understanding of how to make communication effective for particular sorts of people.

Your project can be in any format e.g a website, a brochure, a game, a poster etc.

This project is in five sections, as follows:

newYou can use the links above or click here for an interactive guide to the coursework. I would be very interested to have your feedback about which version you prefer - the interactive one or the normal links from this web page - email me and let me know!

Try to think of your project as a 'process', where you are the SENDER, creating a message called an (in which channel) ARTEFACT, in a particular FORMAT, for a particular (to whom) AUDIENCE, in order to achieve a particular EFFECT, just like Lasswell says! You can't achieve the desired effect with your website or poster, if you don't research and understand your audience and test out your ideas on them. You are just like a market researcher for a new product, except that you get to manufacture the actual product as well!
